Bill has a background in disciplines that put most people to sleep, yet he somehow manages to remain engaging and interesting to (nearly) all of the people he meets. Bill began his professional career in the thrilling field of Certified Public Accountancy, and then decided to try his hand at the even more exciting job of real estate and finance lawyer.

Almost two decades later, Bill now helps clients with all sorts of real estate, finance, and general business issues, and has a knack for making complex things sound rather simple. This is a helpful skill when dealing with working capital lines of credit, shopping center leases, development and property management contracts, and other complicated documents with lots of words and numbers.

A man of many talents (playing guitar, sailing, telling really long stories), Bill also is one of the very few bond lawyers in Maine - a select group of brave souls who help governmental entities, schools, and other nonprofit organizations navigate the treacherous regulatory waters so they can borrow money on a tax exempt basis to finance the important work that they do.

Bill splits his time between FS&D's Portland and Greenville offices, creatively interpreting the speed limit signs in between. In the summer months, Bill is a fixture in the Moosehead Lake Region and can be found doing "legal work" on the deck of our downtown Greenville office overlooking the lake.

When not solving clients' legal problems, Bill frequently explores the inlets and outlets of Maine's many salt and fresh waterbodies with his wife, three daughters, and their dog, Charley. Bill shares his love of sailing by giving lessons to local children out on world famous Moosehead Lake. He shares his love of music by singing acoustic versions of pop songs while strumming his guitar and embarrassing his daughters. While they'd never admit it publicly, secretly they think he's really cool.
